In 2001, the Windham Foundation purchased the Retreat Farm in Brattleboro; preserving & protecting 475 acres of land and historic buildings in a partnership with the Preservation Trust of Vermont and the Vermont Land Trust. As a result, there is an ongoing rehabilitation project to restore the grandeur of the structures and the ongoing preservation of the land. The farm operates a popular petting farm on a seasonal basis. Located across Route 30 from the Retreat Meadows the farm buildings are stunning, especially in the early morning light.
Tom Singleton has been involved in photography for more than forty years. He began with slides, moved to print film, then became involved with black and white film and developing his film and prints in a black and white darkroom. The evolution continued to the digital darkroom where Tom now uses a digital camera to record the images and a computer to edit the work. Through some robust programs color images can be transformed to black and white. Tom says......"I really enjoy doing color work but my real love is black and white and the atmosphere it creates. Through the magic of the computer I can have it all." Tom lives in Brattleboro , VT. He is very active in local photography groups and he exhibits his work in local venues.
