Artist's Description
The Pemaquid Lighthouse was commissioned in 1827 by John Quincy Adams and built later that year. Because salt water was used in the mortar, it began to crumble and was replaced in 1835. Still active it is one of the three most photographed lighthouses in Maine. Seeing it in Winter gives this lighthouse a unique look.
