Description
In 1912 the will of Joseph Draper MD, Superintendent of the Brattleboro Retreat from 1873 to 1902, gave $5000 for the construction of a clock tower. The clock marks the half hour and the hour with a pleasant bong which can be heard in the surrounding neighborhoods. That same clock is operating today more than 100 years later. The light bulb depicted in this picture is one of eight which illuminate the four faces of the clock tower. The clock faces are visible at all times of the day and night.
